Jean Enersen is a retired American news anchor who worked at KING 5 News in Seattle for over 40 years. She was born on February 29, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois. Enersen began her career at KING 5 in 1968 as a news anchor and reporter, eventually becoming the primary anchor for the evening newscasts. She was the first female anchor in the Seattle market and the longest-serving news anchor at the station.
Enersen covered major local and national news events during her career, including the eruption of Mount St. Helens in 1980, the WTO protests in Seattle in 1999, and the 9/11 terrorist attacks. She received numerous awards for her journalism, including several Emmys and Edward R. Murrow Awards.
Enersen retired from broadcasting in 2014, but continues to be involved in the Seattle community through various charitable organizations and events. She is widely respected for her professionalism, dedication to journalism, and trailblazing work as a female news anchor.
